CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19): AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM DR. ROUEL VERGARA

March 18, 2020

To Our Dear Patients,

Your health and safety is of utmost priority for us.

With the ever increasing concerns and evolving Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, we at New Leaf Dentists are committed to ensuring that our clinic remains as safe as possible for our patients, visitors, dentists and our staff.   We have been closely monitoring the advice of the World Health Organisation (WHO), the Government Health departments and the Australian Dental Association (ADA) to ensure that we minimise the risk to those who enter our doors.

Rest assured that all our staff and dentists are well trained in Infection Control procedures and we continue to maintain our strict safety standards within the practice, so you can be confident that your health and safety is not compromised during your visits.  In additional to that, we have put additional measures to minimise any potential exposure to the virus.  These are necessary so that we can continue to provide you with the dental care that you need as we remain in operation at these trying times.

As you book your appointments, you will be asked the necessary precautionary questions to ensure that from your end, you will also do your part for the community to disclose any necessary information about recent overseas travel (within the last 14 days), had close contact with a person with confirmed COVID-19 or if you yourself have been experiencing symptoms. If any of these apply to you, we ask that you follow the advice of the WHO and the Australian government to self-isolate or seek medical attention.

If you are experiencing symptoms of fever, cough, sore throat, fatigue and shortness of breath before your scheduled appointment, please contact our practice on 02 4367-6222 to reschedule.  We would appreciate as much notice as possible please.

As you enter our premises, we have the posters from the ADA outlining the symptoms of COVID-19. Please take the time to read them and self-assess.  Should you have any of these symptoms, please reconsider your visit and reschedule to a different time when it is safe to do so.

Our reception counter has hand sanitisers for your use as you enter and leave our clinic.  In addition to our standard Infection Control practices in the surgery and clinical areas, all common non-clinical surfaces are regularly cleaned and disinfected especially the high traffic points such as door handles, the EFTPOS machine and reception counter.  The children’s toy boxes and water dispenser in the waiting room have been removed as a precautionary measure.  If you need a drink, please ask our staff and we will provide a fresh one for you.

Please trust that as your oral health providers in our beloved Erina, Central Coast, we are doing what we can for the health and safety of our visitors, patients, dentists and staff.  We are pressing on as usual so we can continue to care for you and your family without unnecessary panic and fear.

This is indeed an unprecedented situation for our generation. Your cooperation with the advice and directives given to us by the Government authorities are paramount to the overall safety of the wider community.

Thank you for continuing to show us love by trusting us with yours and your family's dental care.  We wish you all to be in good health and stay safe always!

Sincerely,

Dr. Rouel Vergara
